Today I have a few very easy tips for you and how to eat healthy on the go or traveling. Choosing healthy foods that you can stash in your purse or suitcase is really simple, and it also saves you time, money and unwanted calories. Gotta love that!

One thing I will tell you right now is that planning is KEY.  I’ll say it again, planning is KEY. Pre-planning can mean the difference between completely abandoning your healthy lifestyle, or keeping yourself healthy, happy and feeling great.

The following are a few tips and tricks that I’ve implemented over the years that keep me healthy and energized while on the road. Don’t worry! They’re all easy to implement and don’t involve much organization or sacrifice, which is just what you want whether traveling for business or pleasure.

1. Drink Water

Then drink some more water.  And then drink some more water.  Am I making myself clear? Good!  If you happen to be flying, the recycled air in a plane can be extremely drying and dehydrating. Take every opportunity you can to stay hydrated. Also avoid caffeine when flying, water is your best choice. You’ll notice a big difference in how you feel if you follow this tip. BIG.

2. Bring Your Own Snacks

When you travel, bringing your own food is really beneficial, and again, you save time and money, plus you get to enjoy something healthy that will give you energy, not leave you feeling tired and groggy.  Many of us travel by plane, as you know, the meal options are not always the best. In fact, nowadays you are lucky if you even get a meal! The best option is to bring your own food.  As with the first tip, this tip will keep you feeling energized and happy.

3. Eating On The Go – What to Pack

Yep, you are going to need to eat!  And you’re going to bring lots of healthy foods with you, if you want to feel great when traveling…right?  Awesome!
The selection of good food choices aren’t always what we would like them to be when away from home, so I’ve listed the following to help you be prepared, and always have lots of healthy food choices with you. Here are some easy options for you.

In Your Purse: raw/unsalted nuts, fresh fruit, dried fruit, cheese and whole grain crackers, a baggie filled with tons of cut up veggies, healthy protein bars(ex.The Simply Bar, Elevate Me, Vega Whole Food Bar).
In a Cooler and/or Hotel Mini Fridge: chopped up veggies, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese and whole grain crackers, lean meat or nut butter sandwich, unsalted nuts, fruit, dried fruit, hardboiled eggs, healthy protein bars.

These tips will keep you feeling healthy, hydrated, and happy away from home!
